Just and fair

Provenance research investigates the origins of works of art by reconstructing complete chains of custody. By signing the "Washington Principles" in 1998, forty-four countries around the world pledged to review the provenance of art held in their public collections, to identify objects that had been seized from victims of persecution, and to achieve solutions with the heirs of the former owners by mutual agreement. We have achieved such solutions with the heirs for the following works:
