The collection archive preserves the museum's historic files and collection inventories; these records document the works of art as well as the museum's own history since its establishment in 1925 and the inauguration of the Städtische Galerie im Lenbachhaus in May 1929. To document and keep track of the individual works in the collection, we continue to use inventory books, accession files, and other record formats in addition to the digital records in the museum database, which allows for centralized access to information on the objects and targeted search requests.
