The Kunstbau is opening – as an experiment, as a meeting space, as a place to research, think and do things together. We start with an open workshop in the afternoon and an opening program in the evening. There will also be drinks, music and talks.
Program
4–6.30 pm
"No rules, just tools" – open workshop with "Raumfragen"
How does space become a place? What happens when many hands and thoughts come together? Together with the collective "Raumfragen", we invite you to an open workshop. No registration, no age limit - just come and join us.
We sew, build, saw and screw. We try things out and let the process inspire us.
7 pm
Opening and Project Presentation
What is "Hello, my name is Kunstbau."? What will happen here over the next few weeks?
The evening will open with a performative reading by Stefanie Adamitz. Together with our collaborations and the participants, we will then present all projects. There will be short speeches and time for questions, discussions and conversations.
ca. 7.45 pm
Reading and Music
The author Sophia Klink will read her text "Nischen". Andrea Lesjak, who developed the KOLLABS III Satellit music construction site for the Kunstbau, will accompany the reading with music. Afterwards, you can talk to the "[kon] paper" collective in the library about how a magazine project can provide space for different voices, experimental writing, and collaboration.
Sophia Klink is an author and biologist. Her prose and poetry have been awarded the Munich Literature Scholarship, among others. She was a finalist in the open mike and the Munich Poetry Prize. Most recently, she was awarded the Wolfgang Weyrauch Prize at the Literary March. Her first volume of poetry "Ich löschen die Kirschen aus meinen Genen" was published by hochroth Munich in March 2025. Her debut novel "Kurilensee" will be published by Frankfurter Verlagsanstalt in September 2025. Her text "Nischen" appeared in "[kon] paper" no. 10 on the concept of "space".
Stefanie Adamitz, born in 1985 in Saxony-Anhalt, did her PhD in ethnology at MLU Halle-Wittenberg. She lives and works, writes and speaks in Leipzig, in various literary magazines (including apostrophe, [kon] Paper, Das Narr) and on the radio.
[kon] paper: "In 2014, we founded the literary and cultural magazine '[kon] paper' because there was a lack of space: space for resistant texts, for trying things out and experimenting. We wanted to create a place where both unpublished authors and established writers could find space, a place for a collective togetherness to create, gather experiences and pass them on.
The topic of 'space' has been close to our hearts both politically and personally from the very beginning: 'space' is important for almost all disciplines and research fields, (is) limited, can be imagined, can expand or contract, it can be occupied, opened or closed, can be private or public. The magazine's concept is also intended to open up an interdisciplinary space for encounters: Each issue is dedicated to one word, which is negotiated by feuilleton and essay contributions as well as poems, short prose and scenic texts. On June 25, 2025, we would like to get into conversation and look forward to thinking together about space and writing in and about it."
From ca. 20.15 pm
Drinks, conversations, trying things out
Take a look around Kunstbau. Explore the "Research Station", developed by Mirja Reuter and Florian Gass and try out their puppet and shadow theatre. Read something, listen or simply watch. Have a drink, talk, dance and open up the space with us!
