The links between contemporary dance and the visual arts are manifold. While dance has always been inspired by the formal language of the visual arts, there is also a shift towards performative formats that take place in museums and galleries. Against the background of this development, the International DANCE Festival Munich and the Akademie der Bildenden Künste München are creating a new kind of collaboration: students from the classes of Alexandra Pirici (performance) and Julian Rosefeldt (media art) have been invited to develop concept ideas for performative works as part of an open call. The focus is on works that centre on human bodies and their mutual relationships. From the concepts submitted, a jury selected ten works that will be realised as part of the festival. At the Lenbachhaus, there will be performances by Josefine Simonsen, Nicolas Maximilian, Noemi Calzavara, and Lea Geerkens. The presentations will take place in the exhibition spaces of two art institutions: In the Kunstbau of the Lenbachhaus (May 25, 2-4 pm) and in the Haus der Kunst (May 30, 2-8 pm).
