Accessability

Welcome to the Lenbachhaus!

Here you will find information on how the accessible routes in our museum are organised.

The Lenbachhaus consists of two exhibition areas: the historic villa of the painter Franz von Lenbach and the modern new building on Königsplatz as well as the Kunstbau, which is located on the mezzanine level of the "Königsplatz" underground station. Further information can be found below.

Here you will find general information such as ticket prices or the address.

Lenbachhaus

Visiting the museum
All parts of the Lenbachhaus are fully wheelchair-accessible. We recommend using the routes through the building indicated in a plan available at the museum’s cash desk. It details the easiest ways to access the various sections of the exhibition.

Parking
Two public handicapped parking spots are located on Luisenstraße.

Entrance
The main entrance offers barrier-free access. To enter the garden, you may use the gate from Luisenstraße. Ring the bell and the guard on duty will let you in.

Elevator
An elevator takes visitors directly from the atrium to the collections.

Wheelchairs and wheeled walkers
Several wheelchairs and wheeled walkers are available at the museum for our visitors. Please notify the visitors’ office by emailing us at fuehrungen-lenbachhaus(at)muenchen.de, or let us know you would like to use a wheelchair or wheeled walker at the cash desk. Because some of our galleries are fairly small, we cannot offer folding chairs due to safety reasons. Seating furniture is installed in almost all galleries.

Bathrooms & Coat check
A fully accessible bathroom is located in the basement vis-à-vis the coat check. The coat check is located in the basement.

Seeing-eye Dogs
Registered seeing-eye dogs may be taken into the museum.

Kunstbau

Visiting the Kunstbau
The Kunstbau is located underground on the mezzanine level of the Königsplatz subway station. The gallery itself features level access and poses no obstacles to wheelchair or walking aid users.

Entrance
The entrance to the Kunstbau is accessible only via escalators from the Königsplatz subway station’s platform or from the square above. An elevator for visitors using wheelchairs or walking aids is located at Luisenstraße 29 (by the door of the “Rhaetenhaus” restaurant and the vocational school’s driveway). The elevator must be operated by museum staff. Please contact us by using the elevator’s intercom or let us know you will need the elevator by sending a companion to the Kunstbau’s cash desk or by emailing us at fuehrungen-lenbachhaus(at)muenchen.de. The elevator accommodates all conventional wheelchair sizes.
