Dominique Jarrassé

Dominique Jarrassé is Professor in History of Contemporary Art at Bordeaux Montaigne University. He earned his PhD degree and habilitation from Paris-Sorbonne. He has taught for many years at Ecole du Louvre in Paris; he assisted on the exhibition Villes d’eaux in France (Institut français d'architecture/Caisse nationale des monuments historiques et des sites, 1983-85). He works in the field of spa heritage as expert in the UNESCO World Heritage nomination process Great Spas of Europe. Active in the field of Jewish heritage, he has authored several books on synagogue architecture and the larger history of art in the 19th and 20th centuries. He combines his research with approaches of anthropology for studies on colonial art and has worked for many years in Tunisia.
