Prekärotopia is a contemporary Singspiel. Singspiel is a German term for a music drama or minor opera. The artists Beate Engl, Leonie Felle and Franka Kaßner a.k.a. Speaker, Poupée and Trickster lead a life between dance number and wrecking ball in the system of Prekärotopia. The play's dramaturgy is defined by abrupt and drastic shifts: from individual isolation to the euphoric embrace of solidarity; from the firm belief in the possibility of change to a revolution without resolution.
The question of whether collective action is possible connects the narrative and the three artists' real-world collaboration. Engl, Felle and Kaßner design and build all sculptures and musical instruments for the play, and also compose, write, and perform the songs.
