In this performance, the musicians operate with custom-built loudspeaker panels that emit five continually shifting frequency bands in narrow sonic beams. The panels are handheld by five performers who choreograph their movements to allow for exchanges between their frequencies. The sounds mix electronically generated material with recordings of instruments including saxophones, bagpipes, and percussions. Composition, in this performance, means an exploration of space through sounds in motion. "Spaint Chords" was created for the German pavilion at this year's Venice Biennale.

"Spaint Chords" premiered in April at the opening of the German Pavilion at this year's Venice Biennale. Performers send electronic sounds combined with sounds of saxophone, bagpipes and drums through the foyer of the Lenbachhaus, using specially made loudspeaker panels. A choreography of movement and sound leads to the space being opened up in a new way for performers and audience.
