Evening with Dmitri Shostakovitch und and art of the 1920s and 30s

Dmitri Shostakovitch was 21 years old when he wrote "The Nose" in 1927/28. Who was this young, radical man bursting with energy and ideas? General Music Director Vladimir Jurowski provides insights into the artistic and personal world of the brilliant composer, using music from "The Nose" as well as other early compositions. Matthias Mühling, director of the Lenbachhaus, connects the musical impression with the visual art of the time – and reports on his perspective on Shostakovich's first opera in the production of the Bayerische Staatsoper.
