"Life? or Theater?" is the epic work of the artist Charlotte Salomon (1917 Berlin - 1943 Auschwitz), created between the years 1940 and 1942. This "Singespiel", as she called it, has remained timely to this day and consists of 769 gouaches, including drawings, lines of text as well as scenic annotations. In this work that was composed in exile in southern France, Salomon interweaves autobiographical and fictional material into a retelling of her life that is captivating in its rich variety of pictorial creations and its abundant references to the art, film, music, and philosophy of her time. "Life? or Theater?" thus offers a unique insight into the complex and violently abbreviated life of a young artist.

Musical accompaniment by DJ Ü aka Gülbin Ünlu. DJ Ü aka Gülbin Ünlü moves musically in the tradition of Hauntology as a decade-spanning collage through music history, infused with PostSciFi Oriental vibes, linked with contemporary electronic influences and echoes of her own musical memories, in love with odd beats. In 2022, she formed the performance band TAF with Veronica Burnuthian. Gülbin's artistic practice celebrates the mash-up as an interrogation of the present, evident not least in her interdisciplinary approach, which includes artistic collaborations, photographic and video works, installations, performances, music and painting. She lives and works in Munich, where she studied painting at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich with Prof. Markus Oehlen until 2018. She has been involved in the artist collectives T.A.G. and VKP and was a committee member of the art space Lorraine13FLORIDA. Since 2016, Ünlü has published various publications and music albums, and her work was most recently exhibited at the Berlinische Galerie in 2022/23. In 2022 she was the winner of the Förderpreis für Bildende Kunst der Landeshauptstadt München.

The exhibition is organized in cooperation with the Jewish Museum Amsterdam.
