Kraftwerk. 3-D Videoinstallation

Over the last four decades, Kraftwerk, pioneers of electric music, have written music history and enjoyed worldwide success. From their beginnings in the early 1970s, Kraftwerk have always been linked to the development of state-of-the-art technology. The music that this made possible has since provided the digital age with the sound it has otherwise lacked. Kraftwerk are also seen as the pioneers and fathers of very diverse trends in music, like hip-hop, electro, house, techno, and synthie pop.

Since they performed at the Venice Biennale in 2005, the world of contemporary art has also begun to see Kraftwerk’s multimedia shows as a unique form of artistic performance. In the Kunstbau at the Lenbachhaus, Kraftwerk’s programmed world of images and sounds, an immersive total work of art, will for the first time be experienced outside the concert hall. A multi-channel 3D video installation specially developed for the Kunstbau will make for a worthy presentation of Kraftwerk’s unique and influential position within the history of the fine and the performing arts.
