What does art do in the museum? What if you were the work of art? What if the pictures could read your mind? What if you actually went to the museum? What if…

The Open Studio offers you an opportunity to bring your own thoughts and suggestions into the museum. Join a team of artists and art educators to discuss open questions, sketch your proposals, and flesh out your ideas in a playful atmosphere. Everyone regardless of age is invited to contribute to the creative exchange of ideas and reflections, participate in artistic actions, and set out to explore the museum.

Our team will help you try out experimental applications of various creative techniques—filmmaking, painting, even sound art—to arrive at new impressions. Your own views, unconventional questions, and out-of-the-box ideas that you bring to the Lenbachhaus or that are inspired by your visit can be the point of departure for a shared critical reflection on what a museum means to us.
